About Us

The ACT PSC offers professional support to children’s services to enhance their capacity to provide quality education and care for children and their families.

The objective of the ACT PSC is to provide professional development that is based on evidence and good practice in order to:

  • Lead professional practice and drive quality improvement
  • Support services to implement the new Early Years Learning Framework
  • Prepare and support early and middle childhood educators for their changing roles under the National Quality Framework and enhance educators’ knowledge and skills on existing and new areas of practice
  • Support the inclusion of children from diverse backgrounds, including Indigenous children, children with a disability and children from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) backgrounds

Professional Support includes:

  • Providing advice and information for early and middle childhood educators on issues relating to their role
  • Coordinating a pool of Bicultural Support Workers who provide short term support to assist the inclusion of children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds in eligible children’s services
  • Overseeing a library of both general and specialised equipment to support professional development and inclusive practices
  • Engaging a diverse range of Professional Support Service Providers (PSSP’s) to deliver professional support and training that can be tailored to meet each services unique needs and
  • Provide opportunities for professional development such as networking sessions and conferences to promote the sharing of knowledge and ideas

The ACT Professional Support Coordinator delivers professional support to:

  • Private and Community Based Long Day Care Centres
  • Family Day Care Services
  • In-Home Care Services
  • School Age Care
  • Occasional Care Services
